€29.95 – €89.00
Beautiful print of an original watercolour painting by Sean Curran.
“Fusilier Arch St. Stephens Green”.
The entrance to St Stephens Green was adorned with this beautiful arch in 1908.It was built to commemorate all the Irish soldiers who died fighting for Britain during the Boer War in South Africa. Sometimes ridiculed and called “Traitors Gate”, the majority of Irish soldiers who fought this war, only did so to provide for their families, at a time when Dublin had the highest infant mortality and unemployment rate in Europe. The names of every Irish soldier is carved in the ceiling of the arch
