“Under Clerys Clock at 8?”
Clerys was once Dublin’s most famous department store situated on O’Connell St. in the nations capital. More importantly, before the days of mobile phone’s and social media, it was even more famous for its clock, as this venue became one of the cities popular meeting spots, for young couples on a date. It was a common sight, at evening time, to see numbers of singletons, dressed to the “nines” waiting anxiously, pacing the pavement and praying not to be stood up!
